Andrew James Shults is a writer, photographer, and founder of GoForth LLC, a media and consulting company helping people connect with the outdoors. Based in Los Angeles, he’s a contributor to Modern Hiker and is currently working on his debut book, Day Hiking Los Angeles, 2nd Edition for Mountaineers Books. Andrew is Better Trail's resident Eagle Scout; along with a background in biological chemistry and environmental studies, his work weaves together technical precision and boots-on-the-ground experience. An avid hiker, camper, and backpacker, he's traveled the length of the John Muir Trail, the Lost Coast Trail, and the Trans Catalina Trail and summited Mount Whitney multiple times. Wherever he goes, his red Patagonia Houdini jacket is always in tow.
