Public Lands Lead

Nick Mott

Nick has spent the lionshare of his career wrapping his mind around issues related to public lands, climate, and wildlife, from trail building in the Nevada desert to reporting for such celebrated outlets as NPR’s All Things Considered and Morning Edition, The Washington Post, High Country News, The Atlantic, and more. His audio productions have received some of the most prestigious honors in radio reporting and podcasting, including two Edward R. Murrow Awards and a Peabody Award. Nick earned a Master's in Journalism with a focus on environmental reporting from the University of Colorado, Boulder and now lives in Livingston, Montana. When he’s not curating Better Trail’s public lands content, working on his latest podcast, or staving off a grizzly bear (true story), he can be found in his backyard mountains: climbing or skiing, hunting or fishing, or simply exploring with a pair of running shoes.
