Steffen Jean-Pierre has spent most of his life living in New York City, but that hasn’t stopped him from being an avid outdoorsman. A rock climber, trail runner, surfer, snowboarder, and mountaineer, he’s explored some of the most rugged terrain in the U.S., from the wild Wind River Range of Wyoming to the steep granite walls of Rumney, New Hampshire. He’s also led wilderness trips as a guide with the National Outdoor Leadership School. With another Better Trail gear tester, Mikhail Martin, Steffen recently competed on Race to Survive, a survival reality show set in the harsh New Zealand backcountry. When he's not outdoors, Steffen is a custom furniture designer and co-owner of Until Brooklyn, a company specializing in bespoke furniture for commercial and residential spaces. Steffen was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, where he still resides.
